Speech Control is Here and Inevitable 


According to two law professors writing in the Atlantic magazine:

 "In the great debate of the past two decades about freedom versus control of the network, China was largely right and the United States was largely wrong. Significant monitoring and speech control are inevitable components of a mature and flourishing internet, and governments must play a large role in these practices to ensure that the internet is compatible with a society’s norms and values."

 Inevitable? Really? So we should just give up the fight for any kind of freedom of speech? I've always known that a feature of the Left is a desire for Big Government to control our lives. But really? Read more.

Is it Better to Suppress Misinformation or Publicly Critique it? The best way to foster a conspiracy theory is for the authorities to try to suppress it. This has long been well known. Take UFOs. Even the Pentagon seems to have grown tired of the whole thing. In April they released videos , taken by naval aviators, of unidentified flying objects in order to “clear up misconceptions”. There’s nothing like turning the light on to dispel fears or suspicions about whatever it was that went bump in the night.
