Being Wrong for a Good Cause is OK

A fundamental aspect of science is making specific predictions (hypotheses) and then seeing if they turn out. If they don't, this implies there is something wrong with the theory they are based on. Climate alarmist constantly make predictions that turn out to be false, but this doesn't make them question their theory: that we face a climate emergency of "existential" proportions. They simply latch onto some new, even more hysterical, prediction, just as pre-scientific doom-mongers did centuries ago. This article from the Spectator sums up the phenomenon nicely.
